Ideology

- The function of an advert is to promote something in order to make the audience feel like they need it in their life.

- The function of an advert can also be to promote different stereotypes.

- The producer is the 'maker' of a media product.

- Ideology is the beliefs and values of a media text. Dominant Ideology is the set of ideas or culture that is most commonly or widely accepted - this can change over time.
e.g. British people drinking tea at teatime or a roast dinner on a Sunday.
