Short Suspense Clip Evaluation

Short Suspense Clip Evaluation

During the production of our short suspense clip we had many successes yet also many failures.

One of the mistakes we made was trying to film a door opening and the sound of a creaky door separately and expecting them to match up. Both doors opened at different speeds automatically and the recordings were horrendously out of time with each other. This meant when we went to combine the two we instead had to use the background noise
of the clip of the door opening, of which had someone talking in the background. To improve this we should have taken a sound recording of the door we filmed as it would have been much easier to match up as both times the door would be opening automatically at the same speed.

When recording the sounds, we did not play them back before moving on to take another. This was a mistake because many of the sound recordings we took had interruptions or weren't as we had imagined they would sound. We only realised this once we were editing in the next lesson and no longer had the time to go out and take more recordings. This meant that we had to use only a few noises across the clip as most of the recordings were in deed interrupted.

An unexpected success we had was taking a low shot of Siana walking down the path. This was because once the colour of the clip was adjusted to monochrome it made her look more powerful. This added effect as this was placed at the start of the clip and helped to show her decrease in power to become powerless against the stalker.

Another success we had was an excess shot that was not originally planned that we ended up adding to the start of the clip to make it seem more creepy and abandoned. This was an empty shot taken of the sky above and the trees that was taken in between of filming the clips we had planned on our storyboard. When we had put all the clips together we realised we needed something to add at the start of our clip. This turned out to be the perfect way to start it and we added our title in text among the trees and it made the start of the clip appear more haunting.
