The 4 components of Media:

Media language
Representation
Audience
Industry

An institution is the values and ideology of a media production.

Long Road Sixth Form College

A black student has been featured to show that Long Road is a diverse place, with people from many different ethnicities and that everyone is treated the same regardless of race, gender and sexuality etc. His hairstyle doesn't follow the norm and his choice of clothing follows a stereotype that he would be chilled and laid back, of which suggests Long Road is a chilled, laid back place.

The bright range of colours on the website suggest it is a friendly, approachable and colourful place. He is wearing stereotypical 'nerd' clothing of which has connotations of being sensible and mature of which suggests Long Road is a place for 'Young Adults'.

The mise-en-scene of her clothing suggest she is original and that Long Road is a place that you can be yourself. it is to break the stereotype that you have to do a subject because of who you are.

Long Road made this campaign and ideologies as they need as many students as possible to make money so the staff can be paid and the site can be upkept. It is also to compete against other sixth form colleges. We also need to be able to differentiate between the colleges, for identification and for ideologies you believe in.

Destruction of Logos

The 'Shell' logo colour scheme has connotations of fire of which is symbolic of combustion and passion. They are extremely bright and bold, and the attract your attention. It is like this to attract your attention when you are desperate and running out of petrol/time. It is symbolic of the petrol gauge and follows the same colour scheme so hen you see that you will be reminded to go to Shell to get your petrol. It could also have connotations of power and royalty of which suggests Shell is a good company. the yellow looks like a sunrise of which suggest optimism and that you should have a routine o9f getting up and going to Shell to get your petrol.

The Starbucks logo has American connotations as the woman has resemblance to the statue of liberty, additionally the colour scheme is similar t that of the dollar. It is similar to the story of the Mayflower, and that perhaps she was at the top of the ship from England that discovered America. The wavy lines are gentle and soothing and suggest tiredness and that you should go buy a coffee.

The Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror is a tabloid, this is made prevalent through it's use of informal language and it makes the assumption that they know what Coronation Street the soap is.

The newspaper has made a rape pun in order to make the audience have a bad opinion on trump. They have chosen a sleazy photo in order to construct a narrative against him as a sexual predator.

Newspapers always have a big headline and there is always more emphasis on the text than the image.
