Kylie Minogue - Hand On Your Heart (1989)

It provides pleasure to the target audience (Teenage Girls - Heterosexual) by the use of extreme primary colours and graphic looking love hearts. The producer has encoded the ideology about love - nothing is sexually explicit for the target audience. The mise-en-scene of Kylie's hair of which is blonde and sterotypically 'pretty' gives something for the target audience to aspire to The outfit she is wearing isn't particualy provocative and are quite basic and present the producers ideology of love.

A modern audience could be appealed to the mise-en-scene as an 80's style is very 'cool' now. Her facial expressions are trying to reach out to male heterosexual audiences - she has made up makeup and well done hair. She is constantly looking directly into the camera - this is direct address. This is to make the audience feel involved with the singer - it makes them feel like they're having conversation or a live concert. The symbolic code of the red of her dress connotes her love and how she wishes it to be never-ending. The blue dress connotes her sadness for the dying love. The video does not anchor the audience and the video completely contradicts the lyrics of the song.

Advert Analysis 1 This advert was published when women played a stereotypical role in the household of a cleaning lady. It is aimed at middle class women who still do their own washing yet they have a solid income from their husbands and can afford for their clothes to look as good as new.  The way she is hugging the red box suggests it is her new love, that it is all she wants. The red box suggests that she relies on this product like she relies on a man. It is colourful and bright which suggests that the product will lead to a better, optimistic life. The advert is blunt with no hidden meanings, it suggest that she does the job - she is the washing machine.
