Music Videos Rules and Regulations:


1. You must complete an individual cross-media production, applying your knowledge and understanding of the theoretical framework (media language, representation, media industries and audiences.)

2. Unassesed participants may act in, or appear in the media production, or operate lighting, sound, recording and other equipment under your direction if required.

Task One:
1. Create an original music video to promote your new artist or band.
2. Length - Between 3 minutes to 3 minutes 30 seconds.
3. Two or more filming locations (e.g. studio, rehearsal or live venue, or other locations)
4. Wide range of camera shots, angles and movement to interpret the music and lyrics of the song.
5. Shots of the artists or the band to establish a clear identity/image.
6. Performance footage (rehearsal and/or live and/ or lip synched).
7.Representations of at least one social group.
8. Clear structure with an element of narrative.
9. Every shot must be sharp, clear and in focus (Unless it is clear what you are doing).
10. Editing of original footage to the music track.
11. Graphics depicting the original name of artist or band and title of the track.

Requirements to get an A:
1. Use media language to demonstrate intertextuality and/or hybridity.
2. Convey a complex representation of a social group using media language.
3. Subvert and challenge typical representation stereotypical stereotypes.
4. Present an ideological context typical to an independent music label.
5. Create  magazine that demonstrates clear stylistic, thematic and ideological links to your music video.
